The aux input is typically a box below the track list on the right hand side called "Aux Input" and you can drag it into the schedule.
That would allow a "physical source" to be included in a playlist for a period of time. Tt would allow a satellite feed (for example) with news on it to be played out for a couple of minutes every hour
Depending on what you want to do this may or may not be what you are wanting to achieve.
PlayIt Live will need to be connected to the server for this to work.

I've read that the Aux input in PlayIt Live allows you to connect live audio from external input devices on your computer directly to your broadcast.
I'd like to know how to use the settings in playit (I have my own account) to connect with my audio to server?
